Dar es Salaam, May 7, 2012: Vodacom has today launched an exciting new offer
specifically designed to meet the communication needs of the mass and youthful
market in a bid to further increase its customer base by continuing to provide
affordable telecommunications services to all Tanzanians.

Under the new campaign dubbed Wajanja
Vodacom prepaid customers will enjoy a very affordable tariff of ¼ shilling per
second for Vodacom to Vodacom calls from 10pm to 7am every day. The new offer will also see
Vodacom prepaid customers enjoying a very low SMS tariff of only Tshs. 25 for
SMS sent to any network in Tanzania,
as well as free browsing on Facebook
and Twitter websites.

Vodacom Tanzania
Managing Director, Mr Rene Meza, said the new offer is
designed to
fulfil the mobile communication needs of the mass market, especially the youth –
helping them to be in the know and in constant communication through voice
calls, SMS and Internet at affordable rates. Although the youth are sure to
love the new offer, all Vodacom prepaid customers will benefit from the new low
rates.

“Vodacom is committed to provide affordable mobile services
to all Tanzanians. By making it possible for Tanzanians to make phone calls,
send SMS and access the Internet at reasonable rates, we are convinced that mobile
customers in Tanzania are now in a position to be part of today’s world through
their mobile phones,” said Meza.

The new offer applies automatically to all Vodacom prepaid
customers. “There is no need for customers to subscribe or register to the
offer. All they need is to be on the Vodacom network”, Meza added.

“Currently with about 20 million active customers,
representing a mobile penetration of around 44%, the Tanzanian market
represents a tremendous opportunity for growth going forward, and an
opportunity Vodacom wants to be part of as we continue leading the mobile market
by providing affordable mobile services”, Meza concluded
