Vice President Dr Bilal to preside over Employer of the Year Award (EYA) 2013 ceremony

Dar es Salaam, 3 12 2013:

The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) has announced that the Employer
of the Year Award (EYA) 2013 ceremony will be held on Thursday 5th December
at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam. At the same ceremony the young
entrepreneur of the year award will also be up for grab.

The Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Mohamed Gharib
Bilal will preside over the event which recognizes employers’ contributions
and commitment towards creation of skilled workforce and provision of a
safe and supportive work environment in Tanzania. The Vice President will
be accompanied by the ILO Director General Mr. Guy Ryder.

“The Employer of the Year Award ceremony is an occasion to recognize the
best Employers in Tanzania with outstanding Human Resources Practice,” said
ATE Executive Director Dr. Aggrey K. Mlimuka, in a statement issued
yesterday in Dar es Salaam. The event will be held on Thursday 5th December
2013, at Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam.

The 6th Employer of the Year award, is a testimony that employers in
Tanzania, continue to strive to create positive employee environments, and
they have been immensely contributing to the economic growth, noted Dr
Mlimuka.

ATE Chairperson Mr. Almas Maige added that Employer of the Year Award (EYA)
has and is actively promoting and encouraging best practices in Human
Resources and about 21 awards will be on contention.

How do we make the Tanzania employer to implement the “right” human
resource philosophies, posed Mr Maige. He noted that ATE as the body with
over 1,200 registered members who are employers countrywide wants to have
high impact human resource managements that create a work environment that
enable employees to thrive both as individuals and as contributors to
business success.

Mr. Maige also noted that more and more employers in their HR policies were
focusing on fostering innovation, collaboration and creating the best place
to work, which is a big advantage for the wellbeing of the economy.

The Employer of the Year Award (EYA) is an annual event in the calendar of
the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE), initiated and geared towards
promoting and encouraging best Human Resource Management practices.

The objectives of the awards are: to recognize ATE members that have
excelled in putting in place outstanding HR management policies and best
business practices; to recognize and benchmark employers with the best
Human Resource practices; to develop a set of guidelines by which employers
in Tanzania can strive to improve HR management and best Business
practices; to compile information on the status of Human Resources
Management and practices among ATE members and identify areas for
improvement; to provide feedback to participating employers on their status
regarding attainment of the best practices in Human Resource Management.

There are 21 awards for the Employer of the Year 2013 and these are as
