Tanzania to host Africa Heads of State Human Capital Summit

This is the first time the conference has been held in Tanzania or on the African continent.

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania is expected to host the Africa Heads of State Human Capital Summit (HCS), which will discuss investment in human resources.

The Summit to be held on July 25 and 26, 2023, under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Economic Growth: Boosting Youth Productivity by Improving Learning and Skills,” will bring together leaders from across the continent to focus attention and draw tangible financial and policy commitments, prioritizing investing in people as a core driver of productivity, resilience, and growth.

This is the first time the conference has been held in Tanzania or on the African continent.

Briefing journalists about the summit on Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr. Stergomena Tax, said strengthening peace is one of the reasons why Tanzania was chosen to host the significant meeting.

“Tanzania was requested to host the summit, and the main reason is that Tanzania is one of the African countries whose population is growing rapidly and has a large number of young people,” she said.

In addition, Dr Tax explained that at the summit, a Dar es Salaam declaration will be issued that aims to provide the direction and position of African countries regarding investment in human capital.

For his part, Commissioner for External Finance at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Richard Bade, said that Tanzania was requested to host the summit by the World Bank, which is financing the event.
