Second Bank M East African CSR Awards officially opens on 18 October 2011

Wednesday, 12 October 2011: Next week, the second Bank M East African
CSR Awards will officially open for entries. Companies from Burundi,
Kenya, Rwanda,Tanzania and Uganda will be able to enter their
corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects and programmes into the
Awards on Tuesday, 18th October.

Following the resounding success of the inaugural Bank M East African
CSR Awards in May 2010 in Tanzania, the Awards Secretariat,
africapractice, in partnership with Bank M Tanzania, the Nation Media
Group (NMG) and the East African Business Council (EABC), will join
forces once again in a signing ceremony and press conference in Dar es
Salaam, Tanzania, to launch the Awards.

Companies from across the region will be able to enter via the Awards
website (www.eastafricancsrawards.com) filling in an online entry
form. All entries are free. The competition will close to entries on
Friday, 16th December 2011.Each winning project will be presented
before a select high-level audience. Keynote speeches will be given
during the gala dinner Awards ceremony by East African ministers, East
African Business Council directors, members of the judging panel and
sponsors scheduled for the end of February 2012 in Tanzania.

corporate contributions to East Africa’s sustainable development. The
event will showcase and reward the on-going commitment by East African
companies to incorporate ethical values, compliance with legal
requirements, respect for individuals, involvement in communities and
protection of the environment into their business” says Ambrose
Nshala, Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs for Bank M.

In addition to the original four categories of Workplace, Environment,
Community Investment and Supply Chain, the second Bank M East African
CSR Awards will also include a fifth category – the Elvis Musiba Award
for Innovative Partnerships. This award is in honour of the late
Chairman of both the judging panel and the awards secretariat 2010 –
Mr Elvis Musiba.

The Bank M East African CSR Awards are the only Awards of their kind
that celebrate excellent corporate social responsibility activity by
Burundi, Kenyan, Rwandan, Tanzanian and Ugandan businesses.
