Open Government Partnership- Statehouse seeks stakeholders’ views

*CALL FOR STAKEHOLDER VIEWS ON THE GOVERNMENT SELF ASSESSMENT EXERCISE ON
IMPLEMENTATION OF OPEN GOVERNMENT PARTNERSHIP*
Year, 2011, the government of Tanzania joined the global initiative of Open
Government Partnership that aims at promoting transparency, empowering
citizens, fighting corruption and encouraging use of new technologies to
improve governance.

The Government started implementing its OGP commitments which were
translated to action plans. During Phase I of OGP implementation,
commitments were directed to three priority sectors which include Health,
Water and Education. Hence, the one year plans which were implemented from
July, 2012 to July, 2013 focused on the above mentioned priority sectors.

In accordance with OGP Regulations, after implementation for the period of
one year, the government in collaboration with the Civil Society
Organizations is required to conduct a Self Assessment Exercise to
determine how the Programme was implemented.

Therefore, citizens are cordially invited to contribute their views and
opinions on how the OGP action plans were implemented. All comments are to
be presented in the forms which are found in the website www.ega.go.tz/ogp.

The Public views are crucial to facilitate government self assessment
exercise in OGP implementation. Also the views will be used for developing
next OGP action plans to be implemented between 2014/15 and 2015/16.

The views should be submitted through the above referred website before
18th Sept, 2013.
