Futures Group Welcomes Dr. Ruth R. Berg as Vice President of Strategic Growth Initiatives

Washington, D.C. — Futures Group has announced that Ruth R. Berg,
Ph.D., will return to the company in February as Vice President of
Strategic Growth Initiatives. In this role, Dr. Berg will be
responsible for Futures Group\’s efforts to pursue and penetrate new
and emerging markets. Dr. Berg will report to Chief Operating Officer
Ed Abel, and she will serve on the company\’s Executive Leadership
Team.

Dr. Berg has more than twenty years of professional experience in
international health with an emphasis in private sector strategies,
policy, and evaluation. She has worked in more than 20 countries
spanning Africa, Asia, Europe and Eurasia, Latin America, and the
Caribbean.

Dr. Berg joins Futures Group from Abt Associates, where she led the
establishment of the company\’s international private sector health
practice and the development of its evaluation business strategy in
international health. She served as a Senior Advisor to the
USAID-funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector
(SHOPS) Project, Co-Director of Abt\’s Evaluation Center, and Senior
Evaluation Advisor to the DFID-funded Partnership for Transforming
Health Systems Phase II Project. Previously, she served as the Project
Director for the $95 million SHOPS Project, Project Director for the
$60 million USAID-funded Private Sector Partnerships-One Project,
Abt\’s Indefinite Quantity Contracts Director for the USAID-funded
Private Sector Program, and Research Director for the USAID-funded
Commercial Market Strategies Project. She also served as an Abt Fellow
from 2008 to 2010.

Prior to joining Abt Associates, Dr. Berg worked for seven years at
Futures Group as Research Director for the Social Marketing for Change
Project, Senior Associate on the Policy Project, Evaluation Specialist
on the Evaluation Project, and Country Manager on the OPTIONS II
Project. Dr. Berg holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology and
Demography from The University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. in
Economics and International Relations from The University of
California at Davis.
