CONSUMERS in the country will continue to feel pain in their day to
day activities as prices of petroleum products, especially kerosene,
have been slightly reduced.
Dar es Salaam Regiom seems to be enjoying the EWURA decision as the
price of kerosene has plummeted from Tsh2,086 to Tsh1,940 per litre
while that of petrol has now been set Tsh2,206 from Tsh2,052 per
litre.
This is due to the revised price publications of petroleum products
announced this week by the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory
Authority (EWURA) for the Tanzania mainland.
According to EWURA’s statement issued to the Business Times in Dar es
Salaam early this week, a process of reviewing the petroleum pricing
formula contained in the Government Notice has been launched.
βIt is planned that this process will be concluded by the end of July
2011 and that a new pricing formula will be determined by the end of
July 2011,β the statement has reveled.
The statement has further noted that in view of the ongoing
consultative process with respect to same, stakeholders and the public
are informed that the current prices published by EWURA on July 1,
2011 will continue to apply until new prices that will be determined
using the new formula are released on August 1, 2011.
β In accordance with the Government notice no.5 dated January 9, 2009,
EWURA has started to publish indicative and cap prices of petroleum
products for the Tanzania mainland. EWURA has been issuing bi-weekly
publications since January 2009,β the statement said.
