Ban Ki-moon appoints Izabella Teixeira of Brazil to his High Level Panel of Eminent Persons on Post-

Geneva: United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today appointed
Ms. Izabella Teixeira of Brazil to serve on his High-level Panel of
Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda. Ms. Teixeira is
the Minister of the Environment of Brazil. She replaces Ms. Vanessa
Petrelli CorrĂȘa who has recently submitted her resignation due to
supervening circumstances. Ms. Teixiera is scheduled to be in New
York during the opening debate of the General Assembly and will attend
the first meeting of the Panel on 25 September 2012.

Ms. Izabella Teixeira is the Minister of the Environment of Brazil. A
civil servant at the Brazilian Environmental Agency since 1984, she
has occupied different managing positions at the Agency, as well as at
the Ministry of the Environment and at the State Government of Rio de
Janeiro. She has also worked as a professor of business management
and the environment in different universities and is an expert in
strategic environmental assessment. Ms Texeira is a biologist and
holds a Master’s Degree in Energy Planning and a Ph.D. in
Environmental Planning from the Universidade Federal do Rio de
Janeiro.
