Africa Internet Summit 2023 headed to Johannesburg

JOHANNESBURG has been confirmed as the host of the Africa Internet Summit 2023 (AIS 23) to be held in September.

The South African city will host the event from the 26th to 30th.

AIS, one of the continent’s leading African and global internet industry gatherings, will take place at the Indaba Hotel.

The summit promises to bring together hundreds of key players, technocrats, and business leaders in the Internet industry to explore policies, trends, resources, and challenges in fostering internet growth for sustainable development in Africa and the Indian Ocean region.

AIS 23 is being organised with the local host, the . ZA Domain Name Authority (ZADNA), supported by the South African Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT).

With Internet penetration on the rise in Africa, the AIS 23 is coming at a critical juncture to address the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities to harness the internet’s full potential for the continent’s development.

Despite significant growth, Africa’s current Internet penetration of 28,6 percent is still lower compared to the global average.

“The AIS’23 aims to identify strategies to bridge this gap and ensure that Africa can leverage the Internet to its fullest extent,” organizers stated.

High-level government officials and prominent industry leaders are set to attend the opening ceremony on September 26.
