Some of the world’s richest people reside in posh estates and mansions, however that is not the case for billionaire and South Africa-born entrepreneur Elon Musk sold off all his property to move into a tiny matchbox house that costs $50 000 (roughly Tsh 116.4 million), but why?
After selling off most of his real estate assets and moving to Boca Chica, Texas in 2021 the new Twitter CEO moved into a tiny box house that he says he rents from his rocket company, SpaceX.

Musk reportedly sold all his properties in order to fund a Mars colony.
In 2021 Musk took to Twitter to say he is working on sustainable energy for Earth with Tesla and protecting future of consciousness by making life multiplanetary with SpaceX. Also, AI risk mitigation with Neuralink & fixing traffic with Boring.
By living on the site Musk has 24/7 access to all the SpaceX development on sending humans to Mars and making human species to become multi-planetary.
His house in Texas reportedly has a setup like most studio apartments: One large room partitioned into a living room area, bedroom area, kitchen and bathroom.
In an interview with Vanity Fair Elon Musk’s previous partner Grimes said the SpaceX CEO does not live like a billionaire.
“Bro does not live like a billionaire…Bro lives at times below the poverty line to the point where I was like can we not live in a very insecure $40 000 house? Where the neighbours like to film us and there’s no security and I’m eating peanut butter for eight days in a row?”
