Walt Disney has appointed Tony Chambers as the new president for its Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) operations, following a restructuring of the company’s entertainment businesses in the region, announced Tuesday. Chambers, who previously headed theatrical distribution, will begin his new role in February. He will oversee Disney’s streaming, advertising sales, studio marketing, theatrical distribution, and sports operations across the EMEA region. Chambers will report directly to Disney Entertainment co-chairmen Alan Bergman and Dana Walden, as well as ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro.
“Tony Chambers is a highly respected senior executive with an exceptional collaborative approach, both within the company and across the EMEA region. He brings a wealth of experience to this significant new role,” Bergman, Walden, and Pitaro stated in a joint announcement.
With 30 years of experience at Disney, Chambers most recently managed global film distribution for the company’s film releases, including those from Disney, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures. Prior to this, he served as senior vice president of studio distribution for Europe.
Chambers takes over from Jan Koeppen, who will step down after six years as the regional lead.
