Mike Sangster, Senior Vice President for Africa at TotalEnergies E&P, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the inaugural Congo Energy & Investment Forum (CEIF), scheduled for March 25-26, 2025, in Brazzaville. Representing one of the world’s leading energy companies, Sangster will discuss TotalEnergies’ commitment to sustainable energy growth in the Republic of Congo and across Africa.
Sangster is expected to outline the company’s strategic investments, cutting-edge technologies, and the vital role international oil companies play in maximizing Congo’s hydrocarbon potential. Earlier this year, TotalEnergies announced a $600 million investment to enhance exploration and sustain production at the Moho Nord deep offshore field. This field, accounting for nearly 50% of Congo’s daily oil production at approximately 140,000 barrels per day (bpd), is set to increase output by an additional 40,000 bpd.
The CEIF will bring together global investors and local stakeholders to explore opportunities in Congo’s energy and infrastructure sectors. Discussions will cover the latest advancements in gas-to-power projects and updates on nationwide expansions aimed at bolstering the country’s energy landscape.
TotalEnergies is also advancing its exploration efforts with the Marine XX permit, a significant deep offshore block. Current operations include mobilizing two drilling rigs and ongoing appraisal activities. In August, TotalEnergies extended its contract with Northern Ocean for the Deepsea Mira semi-submersible rig, with plans for drilling one firm well and potentially an additional well, reinforcing Congo’s strategic importance to the company’s operations.
“Mike Sangster’s presence at CEIF 2025 highlights the pivotal role international oil companies like TotalEnergies play in fostering energy security and economic development in Congo and beyond,” said James Chester, CEO of Energy Capital & Power. “Through its strategic investments, TotalEnergies is not only boosting production but also contributing to sustainable growth and regional energy integration.”
