Egypt has been ranked as the top African country in terms of soft power influence for 2024, according to a report by Business Insider Africa. The country achieved the highest position in Africa and 39th globally, with a soft power score of 44.9 points.

South Africa follows in second place among African nations, scoring 43.7 points, while Morocco is ranked third with 40.6 points.

Globally, the United States leads the rankings with a record-high Global Soft Power Index score of 78.8 points, an increase from 74.8 in 2023.

The soft power score is derived from eight key pillars: business and trade, international relations, education and science, culture and heritage, governance, media and communication, sustainability, and people and values.

The index, published by Brand Finance, a leading independent brand valuation and strategy consultancy, is now in its fifth edition. It assesses the perceptions of all 193 United Nations member states.

Soft power represents a crucial approach for countries to extend their influence by leveraging diplomacy, media, culture, and education rather than military force. This strategy helps nations build goodwill and enhance their global reputation.
