In a inspiring post reflecting on his poignant journey to ‘connect to his history’ on the continent, the racing driver, 37, remarked that he could ‘feel my ancestors with me now stronger than I ever have before.’
Among the images shared to his Instagram, Lewis was seen standing high up on a mountain, with a breathtaking mountainous landscape seen behind him.
The star, dressed in a khaki ensemble with a bucket hat, perched his leg on a rock as he looked into the distance and took in the view.
Other images amid his visits to Namibia, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania saw him interacting with local villagers, with Lewis seen beaming and spreading his hands out towards the camera.
Further snaps saw him chatting to children in their homes, while the sportsman was also seen checking out elephants in their natural habitat.
In the most recent leg of his journey, Lewis also spent time with the Pokot people in Kenya, with a video shared by the star showing them up close as he filmed them sitting together in their village.
