FIFA has released its updated national team rankings, bringing several notable changes within the African top 20.
Tunisia made a significant leap, moving up to 5th place in Africa after an impressive performance in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. This advancement saw Tunisia gaining five places globally, while Nigeria stagnated and dropped to 6th in Africa.
The African top 4 remained stable with Morocco leading the continent, followed by Senegal, Egypt, and Côte d’Ivoire. However, Senegal experienced a minor setback, dropping two places globally, though they maintained their top position in Africa. Meanwhile, Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire inched closer to Senegal, thanks to their recent strong performances.
Ghana suffered the most significant drop, falling five places globally and slipping to 14th in Africa. On the other hand, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) climbed two places globally, which boosted them to 10th place in Africa. Uganda also made a notable entrance into the African top 20, securing the 19th spot at the expense of Equatorial Guinea.
