Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: In a significant move towards modernizing its economy, the Tanzania National Business Council (TNBC) has made notable strides in embracing digital transformation. The Council’s recent initiatives promise to usher in a new era of competitive, sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth for the nation.
Pioneering the Digital Drive
The TNBC’s establishment of the Digital Transformation working group marks a proactive approach to incorporating technology across various sectors. “Recognizing the urgency of digital transformation and efficient use of technologies, we’ve taken proactive steps,” says Jacqueline Woiso, CEO of Multichoice Tanzania. “Our goal is to craft policies and strategies that encompass the entire digital transformation value chain.”
A Milestone Meeting
A key achievement in this journey was the second meeting of the Digital Transformation working group held on 29th November 2023. “This meeting was a significant milestone, indicating substantial progress toward realizing our goals of competitive, sustainable, and inclusive growth,” Woiso adds.
Collaborative Leadership
Leading the charge alongside Dr. Mohamed Abdullah, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information Communication and Information Technology, Woiso co-chairs the working group. “I am honored to co-lead these efforts, in strong collaboration with the Ministry. These collective efforts are not only crucial for immediate goals but also pivotal in advancing Tanzania into the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions.”
Looking Ahead
The focus on digital transformation positions Tanzania to leapfrog into advanced stages of technological integration, aligning with global trends and future-proofing the nation’s economy. Woiso’s leadership and the collaborative efforts of the TNBC and the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Information Technology highlight Tanzania’s commitment to a digitally empowered future.
