Chris Brown’s recent performance at the FNB Stadium made waves, with the American R&B star delivering an unforgettable two-day concert. During the event, DJ Fresh, who kept the energy high between performances, hinted at a potential return to South Africa.
The US-based DJ entertained the crowd with an array of South African hits, including Mgarimbe’s Sister Bethina, Riky Rick’s Boss Zonke, and Brenda Fassie’s Weekend Special, further adding to the festive atmosphere.
Collaboration with Cassper Nyovest
In a social media post, DJ Fresh shared exciting news: he had connected with South African hip-hop icon Cassper Nyovest. “South Africa just got bigger. I just connected with the legend Cassper Nyovest,” Fresh wrote, sparking conversations online about his choice of words and collaboration. Some fans questioned his use of “legend” for Nyovest but were intrigued by the potential for future partnerships.
Fresh continued, expressing his interest in creating an R&B-Amapiano fusion event when he returns to South Africa. He proposed a party concept, AMP-N-B, combining the best of Amapiano with his own R&B beats. “Let’s set it up and make it big,” he said, eager to showcase his unique style.
Cassper Nyovest’s Admiration for Chris Brown
Cassper Nyovest responded to the event with admiration for Chris Brown’s stellar performance. He praised Brown’s success, commenting on social media: “I do not remember the last time there was such hype about an artist or concert in South Africa. Chris Brown is a star, and his catalog is just second to none. So inspiring to see what hard work and perseverance can build.”
In 2017, Nyovest came close to breaking records at the same venue, filling nearly 68,000 seats, which remains one of the biggest concerts ever by a South African hip-hop artist.
